Happy New year!

Hello!

First of all let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year. I hope you enjoyed the festive period.

Christmas is a very busy time for me with Christmas parties, weddings and functions. I can honestly say I have had an amazing time throughout December at my shows. The crowds have been fun and a pleasure to work with. I love to see a full dance floor when I am out there performing. I am very honoured to say that all of the venues I have performed in over Christmas have already booked me back for Christmas 2012.

I am really looking forward to this year. 2011 was an amazing year for me both professionally and personally. I will be working hard this year to build on that. This year I will be performing at alot of weddings. I will also be attending alot of wedding faires around the North West. As well as the Weddings I will also be performing my motown shows around the UK and Europe. I really look forward to the Summer shows and this year I am hoping to be back on the Famous Blackpool North Pier and my weekly trips over to Wales.

Also new for this year I will be performing every week at Blackpool 's famous Lyndene Hotel ( http://www.lyndenehotel.com/). You may recognise the Lyndene as one of the venues featured on Peter Kays "Phoenix Nights". The Lyndene hotel is an amazing venue and is booked up almost every night. I am Performing a new show at the Lyndene "The Sounds of Ben E King and the Drifters". the show has been going really well and have received some amazing feed back already and its only in its second week.

On a personal note all is well in the Philips house. e had a fantastic Christmas with all the family. 16 people over at our house for Christmas dinner was not easy but it was great to have everyone together. I even managed a few drinks!

The Biggest surprise over Christmas was the news that we are expecting a new addition due around August time. We are so pleased and what a great time to get the news. So we will be busy this year with a house extension and loft conversion to be finished before August.

New Chapter.

Wow its been too long since I last wrote on here. I just thought I would give you all a quick update.

I had an amazing time doing the " Fantastique" show on Blackpool's north Pier. The show was initially set to run for 8 weeks but as it was going so well it was extended. Unfortunately due to prior commitments I had to leave the show which I have really missed being a part of. The "Fantastique" show is still running and doing really well.

I have attended lots of wedding fares over the last few weeks and have met some really nice people. I am looking forward to performing at their weddings. I have also had a great run of gigs recently. Fallons bar in stoke is a restaurant that I have been to a few times. The atmosphere is amazing from the start. I always enjoy performing there.

Amazingly I managed to have a weeks holiday with my Family in spain. Thankfully the weather was nice and the kids had fun.

On the Down side I was recently involved in a car accident on the M6. Thankfully I was not seriously injured however my Van is no more. All my family and friends have been amazing and hopefully I will be 100% very soon.

I have lots of exciting projects planned for 2012, which I can talk about very soon but not just yet but its already looking like a busy year.

Ill write soon to let you know about 2012 and show you some of the photos I have taken at my shows and my last night in the " Fantastique" Show.

Stronger and Stronger

Hello,

Firstly let me apologise for the lack of post lately. It is important to me that I write these blogs personally and due to my recent work load it has been difficult to update the site.

I think i need to start off by discussing the evening at Chorley Little Theatre. Firstly let me apologise to everyone that attended on the evening to discover the show could not go ahead. Myself, my team and the staff at Chorley little theatre worked hard to inform every one that the show unfortunatley could not go ahead. However there were a few that we failed to contact and for that I/we apologise.

When I am asked to perform in a show I take great pride in being involved in every detail of the show so it was a major dissapointment to me that the show at Chorley little Theatre could not go ahead. I Would like to assure everyone that everyy effort was made for the show to take place, however due to circumstances beyond our control the show had to be cancellled. We were so impressed with the work that the stafrf at Chorley little theatre had put in that we wanted to re-schedule. However due to the recent popularity of the theatre and my commitments that i had alreaddy agreed to it was difficult to re-schedule a date for a show at the Chorley little theatre. However a date in the future has not been ruled out.

The "fanttique Show" at Blackpool norht Pier has been a huge success and it has ben extended to a few dates during the winter. In addition I am now apearing in a Tuesday variety show at the North Pier and on a Thursday along side a star of one of the Uk's best running comedies Benidorm, Crissy Rock.

As always I am reallly enjoying my work and I thank every one who has booked me or I have worked with recently.

Hi guys,

I have lots to talk about this week

I am writing this as a very tired but very happy guy. Work is going from strength to streangh and I am loving it.

Firstly let me tell you about the new show I am performing in on the North Pier in Blackpool. The Show is called "Fanastique" and is running every Friday (except the 22nd July) until the end of October. I met the cast for the first time this week. We spent the day rehearsing and in the evening did a performance for the Press and local businesses. The show was a huge success.

The cast in the show are amazing and a great set to work with and I think we are going to have an amazing show run together. Some of the cast you will be familiar with from my previous show and articles.

Sarah Kemp - I met Sarah for the first time on Wednesday, a few hours before the show began. I had never heard Sarah sing before and when she did I was Blown away. Sarah has such a clear, controlled voice and has the ability to cover a wide range of songs. Sarah opened the show on the Press night and they loved her. It was great to hear the crowds Cheers as she performed.

Nicky Flash -I have worked with Nicky on several occations around the Uk. He is a very funny guy and gets the audience involved in his act. You will recognise Nicky Flash from BGT. He was stuck in his sack and failed to get out. The guy is hilarious on and off stage.

Aaron Levi - I met Aaron a few weeks ago when we worked on the North Pier Sunday show. Aaron was an X factor contestant who went all the way to the judges house. Me and Aaron had fun working on the Sunday show so I knew this would continue through the "Fantastique show" . Aaron is an amazing vocalist who covers hits from Robbie Williams, Swing greats and Rock covers.

Reece Ryan - You may not recognise the name straight away as Reece has recently changed his name from Reece Lightning. Me and Reece have worked together on several shows including "Saturday night Live" and several charity events. Reece is in fact the host of our upcoming show "An evening of Opera and Soul" at the Chorley little theatre. I was delighted when I heard Reece would be hosting the "Fantastique" show. He is a great host, very funny guy and a great friend.

When we met the cast gelled together almost immediately. I can honestly say that they are all genuine and down to earth people and I cannot wait to get back on stage with them.

Also this week I have finally made time to get into the recording studio. I have took a few days out to get in there and record a full album. This time I will record an album of Soul Classics and maybe a few recent Soul/R&B songs. This is different to my other albums as previously I have included other styles on there but this one will be dedicated to Soul. If you have any ideas on what should be included you can email them to info@mattphilips.co.uk over the next week or so. I have booked to record this album with a top producer and engineer who has worked with a host of top names, so I am looking forward to hearing the results.

As well as having n amazing week in work I have also been a very proud dad. My eldest son Morgan has been given fantastic marks in his first year of high School. He is a really funny guy and reminds me so much of how I was at his age. My other son Harvey has joined the local Beavers group and is loving it. He also has completed a course at Dance talent and we went to watch is performance. I might post some pics next week. All this as well as the classes they do at the gym keeps us all very busy. My little Princess Lottie has been as funny and gorgeous as ever. One day I will be able to tel her off!

I need more hours in the day!

Well my show at the Chorley little theatre is getting closer and as that happens the stress levels are rising. Getting everyone together is always difficult but we had a mad panic when the band were not responding to any of our calls or texts. So it was time to Panic. of course there was no need as we have now secured the services of one of the best bands I have ever heard so we are all systems go again, Phew! I was not about to tolerate anyone not giving 100% to this show. I owe it to myself and more importantly to the audience to make this show the best it can be and that needs commitment and a professional team.

I did not realise just how much hard work and stress goes into planning the show and marketing but i have loved every minute and have learnt so much.

This week was my Sons 6th Birthday party and we had a brill time. Even with 20 kids running around our house it was a great day and he loved it. We hired him a Bouncy castle on the front garden and you know I just had to have a go. Thankfully there were no cameras.

This week I am working hard on the Show and have meetings with the Musical director to finalise the set list. I am also meeting with a few people regarding further shows throughout the UK. I will keep you posted when I know more.

Loving the stress

Hey guys,

Welcome back to my blog. It has been a really busy week for me behind the scenes with planning and promoting my show at the Chorley little theatre. There is so much to organise for the big night. I keep changing my set list. There are so many amazing songs I want to include but there is not enough time. If you guys can think of any songs I must include then why not let me know about it.

I am really looking forward to the show. It is in my home town so I am expecting a lot of family and friends to be in the audience which is always nice and a little nerve racking. I am also looking forward to working with FINBAR SMITH who is an amazing singer and I hope the contrast in our styles will make for a great show.

Anyway it has been a long day today so i'm going to try and sleep. Although with all the ideas I have running around in my head I can't see it happening. Another day of meeting tomorrow and going through the show.

Hi Guys

After spending several Months writing a column in a magazine about what I was up to I have decided to continue with it on my web page. Each week I will update you on upcoming shows and what I am involved with professionally and with an insight into my personal life.

It has been an hectic week for me starting with my 5 year olds Son's operation at the beginning of the week. He had to have some teeth removed but all went well and he was great. It has been a busy week of shows with the School holidays and the Bank Holiday weekend so I will fill you in with more detail at the beginning of next week.
